The Global Light Commons (GLC) framework is developed by the Translational Sensory & Circadian Neuroscience Unit at the Technical University of Munich, as part of the Global Light Exposure and Experience (GLEE) research initiative. GLC aims to support interoperable, FAIR, and reproducible light exposure data through standardized metadata and open tooling for wearable light logger and dosimetry research.

The GLC framework has been developed in part through contributions from the MeLiDos project. MeLiDos is a joint, EURAMET-funded project involving sixteen partners across Europe, aimed at developing metrology and standardized workflows for wearable light logger data and optical radiation dosimeters. Its contributions toward fostering FAIR data include the development of common file formats, robust metadata descriptors, and an accompanying open-source software ecosystem.
